I will be researching on the water control and retention system for Millennium Water Olympic Village in Vancouver.
The development focuses on water banking from green roof as well as rainwater capture and storage. Vancouver gets plenty of rain between October and May and very little precipitation between the May to October. Therefore it is important to develop a design that can capture water during the water-fall season and store it for the hot summer. The whole notion of water banking and storage through different mediums resemble the water collecting structure of the globular cactus. When the roots are unable to absorb water from the soil, the skin will absorb moisture content from the atmosphere.
