My initial design concept looks toward a means of controlling ones environment through the transformation of architecture in response to both user needs and or changes in environmental conditions. I am currently considering the natural response of the pine cone to environmental conditions- closing in upon itself in damp conditions and opening in dry, as well as the structure of dragonfly wings- how their structure determines the amount of flexibility and movement. Although different in terms of biomimetic concepts the two ideas together offer the opportunity to explore both responsive and reflexive architecture.
